چکیده

The objectives of multidatabase transaction management are to avoid the inconsistent retrievals and to preserve the global consistency in the presence of multidatabase updates. In order to maintain the global consistency, the MDBS must ensure the global integrity constraints as well as the global serializability of transactions. The global transaction manager must have the responsibility for global integrity constraints. It is impossible for LDBSs to preserve these global integrity constraints because neither local user nor the concurrency controller of each LDBS are aware of the integration process and the constraints. Hence, we need the global transaction manager that supports the global se-rializability and global integrity constraints. In this paper, we propose a multidatabase transaction model with preserving the global integrity constraint and local autonomy of LDBS. We also introduce optimistic concurrency control method based on our transaction model in order to ensure the global serializability.

Optimistic Concurrency Control for Maintaining the Global Integrity Constraint in MDBSs

The multidatabase system(MDBS) has a global database, a set of global and local transactions, and a global transaction manager(GTM) which is built on top of a number of pre-existing database management systems(DBMS) that are being integrated into a single MDBS. The global transaction manager has the responsibility for maintaining the global consistency of MDBS. It is impossible for LDBSs to pre...

Stable Transaction Management for Preserving the Global Integrity Constraints in Multidatabase Systems

The multidatabase systems(MDBSs) are an integration of local database systems into a global distributed database system. The objectives of global transaction management are to avoid the inconsistent retrievals and to guarantee the global serializability under the existence of indirect conflict which is unknown to the global transaction manager(GTM). Many researches have shown that it is difficu...

Site-Locking Protocol for Global Concurrency Control in Multidatabase Systems

Many researches in managing global transactions in multidatabase systems(MDBS) have been proposed to solve problems of ensuring the global serializability. In these method, a few opportunities are provided to the global transaction to execute concurrently. We concentrate our attention on 1) maintaining consistent database state that is defined by global integrity constraints and 2) investigatio...

Global Concurrency Control for Maintaining the Inter-Site Constraints in Multidatabase Systems

The global inter-site constraints is to describe the integrity constraints associated with data items in diierent local databases, which specify the global connguration of the data that are considered semantically correct. Locally consistent transactions may generate global inconsistencies with the existence of global integrity constraints. Hence, we need the global transaction manager that ens...
